EFRAIN ARRIETA CONSUEGRA, Plastic artist of the 60s, from Sincé – Sucre, Colombian Caribbean, resides in Bogotá DC, with more than 35 years of experience, alternates art with his profession as an economist, specialist in Social Security, also as a server audience, percussionist musician and composer.
He began recreating works by some artists from his native Sincé, he has carried out art studies and workshops with various masters, from the 90s until today he has held more than 200 international exhibitions that have taken him to 5 continents.
His works are made with Brea, acrylic, oil, tobacco, etc. based on research on the Zenú and Wayuu ethnic groups, show the folklore, customs, mythology, cosmogony and cultural contributions of the Wayuús and Zenúes peoples, who inhabit regions of the Colombian Caribbean. their cultural contributions such as being coadjuvant in the creation of musical instruments and rhythms as important as the Porro and the Cumbia, a fine goldsmith, beautiful crafts such as the vueltíao hat, symbol of Colombia, complex irrigation systems, aqueduct and hydraulic systems, that is why elements such as musical instruments, utilitarian elements of daily use such as the vueltiao hat, handicrafts, fabrics, typical of these ethnic groups, are always present in his works.
In his works he recreates a kind of Social Realism in which he exposes the difficult conditions of the peasants and members of the Zenú and Wayuu ethnic groups.
He is currently exploring color in the field of abstraction.
His expectation is that pitch will be used extensively in art.
He has recently been invited to the International Art Festival in Hungary, to the IV Biennial of the South, Peoples in Resistance Venezuela, to the Bicentennial Exhibition of Peru, Panama and Honduras, to the Biennial of Contemporary Art of Salerno Italy, to the 40th Caribbean Festival Santiago de Cuba, All the Colors of World in Vienna Austria.
